The despatch riders did not receive the recognition they deserved. However, they were the lifeline of the beating hearts of their divisions. Generals waited anxiously for the arrival of the despatch riders so they can receive orders and make decisions concerning their troops. Through their youthful perseverance, despatch riders continued on their journey mile after mile through shell craters and muddy terrain that was lit by a lonely moon. However, the motorcyclist did not buckle because of the importance of their orders. How could you? When the riders knew hundreds of lives would be at stake. Therefore, the importance of the despatch riders should not be overlooked because they saved countless lives.
